At least 4 killed as train derails in India

A harrowing incident unfolded in the Indian state of Bihar, resulting in the loss of 4 lives and injuries to approximately 100 individuals, as an express train derailed.

The ill-fated North-East Express train, typically plying the route from Delhi to Assam, suffered a derailment at Raghunathpur railway station within Bihar's Buxar district. The incident transpired around 9:35 pm (1605 GMT) on the aforementioned Wednesday, as reported by Tarun Prakash, the general manager of East Central Railway. Shockingly, twenty-one coaches were affected, with three of them overturning in the process. The exact cause behind this disastrous derailment remains shrouded in uncertainty.
Due to this catastrophic accident, several other passenger and cargo trains had to be rerouted, as conveyed by various media outlets.
India's Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, took to a social media platform to confirm that the evacuation and rescue efforts for the affected passengers had been successfully completed.
In a reassuring update, the East Central Railway announced that a relief train for the stranded passengers departed during the early hours of the following Thursday, offering some solace to those affected by the tragic derailment.
Notably, this incident follows a somber event from June, when India witnessed one of its most devastating train accidents in two decades. This occurred in Odisha, claiming the lives of at least 288 people.
