China eyes greater development strategy synergy with Nepal: Xi
Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed China's commitment to strengthening its development strategy synergy with Nepal during a meeting with Nepalese Premier Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda in Hangzhou, China.
The two leaders discussed fostering friendly ties and cooperation, particularly within the framework of China's Belt and Road Initiative.
President Xi warmly welcomed Prime Minister Prachanda to China, noting that this visit, Prachanda's first since assuming his third term as Nepal's Prime Minister, holds significant promise for enhancing the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries. President Xi's remarks were reported by the Chinese daily, Global Times.
'China places great importance on its relationship with Nepal and is eager to deepen the synergy of our development strategies. We aim to strengthen practical cooperation across various sectors, share governance experiences, and drive further progress in China-Nepal relations,' President Xi emphasized.
Prime Minister Prachanda arrived in eastern China for a week-long visit upon the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Li Qiang. His itinerary includes attending the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province. Additionally, he is scheduled to hold a bilateral summit with Premier Li Qiang.
Accompanying Premier Prachanda is a high-level delegation, which includes Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud, his daughter Ganga Dahal, and other cabinet members, as stated by the Nepali Foreign Ministry.
The Nepali Foreign Ministry acknowledged the excellent state of bilateral relations between Nepal and China, characterizing them as those of good friends, close neighbors, and trusted partners. The ministry expressed confidence that this visit would not only reinforce the long-standing bilateral relations but also expand cooperation across various fields of mutual interest.
During his stay from September 23 to 30, Prime Minister Prachanda will make visits to Chongqing Municipality to observe China's progress in agriculture and industry. He will also visit Lhasa, a city in the Tibet Autonomous Region of southwest China.
