4.2 magnitude earthquake shakes Dhaka and surrounding regions
At 12:49 pm today, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 rattled the regions of Tangail, Gazipur, Dhaka, and their neighboring districts.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in Tangail, situated 59 kilometers northwest of the Dhaka Seismic Center, as reported by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
Meteorologist Mostofa Kamal Polash, a Ph.D. researcher specializing in meteorology and climate at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, confirmed the earthquake's magnitude as 4.2 and pinpointed its origin in Sakhipur upazila of Tangail.
Polash issued a warning, indicating a heightened likelihood of additional earthquakes occurring in the area within the next 24 hours. This advisory underscores the need for continued vigilance and preparedness in the affected regions.
