India Unveils 90 Border Infrastructure Projects Along LAC with China

In a determined effort to address the substantial infrastructure deficit along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, India's Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, formally inaugurated an impressive array of 90 projects on Tuesday.

These ambitious initiatives encompass a wide spectrum of developments, ranging from the strategically vital Nechiphu tunnel on the road to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh to the extensive rejuvenation of airfields, helipads, roads, and bridges. Collectively, these endeavors signify a significant leap forward in fortifying India's border infrastructure.
During the ceremony commemorating the inauguration of the 423-meter Devak bridge, constructed by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) in Jammu, Minister Singh virtually laid the foundation stone for the Nyoma advance landing ground (ALG) enhancement project.
Nyoma ALG, a crucial installation located a mere 50 kilometers from the LAC in eastern Ladakh, will undergo a Rs 230 crore upgrade. This transformational project, perched at an altitude exceeding 13,400 feet, encompasses the expansion and reinforcement of the existing airstrip into a formidable 2.7-kilometer "rigid pavement" runway. This extended runway will have the capacity to accommodate a diverse fleet of fixed-wing aircraft, enabling both defensive and offensive operations. The project is slated for completion by mid-2025.
These developments underscore India's unwavering commitment to enhancing its border infrastructure, ensuring security and access to the remote and challenging terrains along the LAC. The inauguration of these projects represents a substantial step forward in safeguarding India's strategic interests in the region and strengthening its border defenses.
