Pakistan Urges India to Resume Dialogue for Bilateral Relations

Pakistan has emphasized the importance of India resuming bilateral discussions, particularly regarding the Kashmir issue, cautioning that a refusal to engage could lead to adverse outcomes for both nations.

Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States, a distinguished figure who has also served as a former president of Azad Kashmir, underscored the need for a reciprocated response from New Delhi during a speech in Washington. Emphasizing the principle that dialogue requires the active participation of both sides, he emphasized, "A dialogue cannot be a solitary endeavor; it necessitates a meaningful exchange of ideas."
During a recent summit held in Islamabad, Premier Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his openness to engage in talks with India, demonstrating a willingness to address shared concerns through diplomatic channels. Echoing this sentiment, the United States, on August 3rd, expressed its support for efforts aimed at revitalizing discussions between India and Pakistan.
In response to a query regarding Prime Minister Sharif's overture, the spokesperson for the US State Department, Matthew Miller, stated, 'As we have consistently stated, we advocate for direct and constructive conversations between India and Pakistan to address matters of mutual interest.'
Conversely, India has declined Pakistan's invitation, citing the prerequisite of an atmosphere conducive to peace before formal negotiations can recommence.
