Bangladesh rescue team returns from Turkey

The 60-member Bangladesh team returned home on Tuesday night after conducting rescue operations in the earthquake ravaged Turkey.

An Air Force aircraft C-130 carrying the team landed at Air Force Base Bangabandhu in the capital’s Kurmitola at 8pm. Lt. Col. Mohammad Tajul Islam, Director (operations and maintenance) of Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate, welcomed rescue team.  
The team included 24 members from the Bangladesh Army, 10 medical professionals, 12 fire service personnel and 14 Air Force crews.
Earlier on February 8, the 60-member team led by Bangladesh Army left Dhaka for Turkey to conduct search and rescue operations in the aftermath of horrific earthquake.
The Turkish government requested the Bangladesh government to help in the rescue work after the devastating natural disaster that has claimed 42,310 lives till now. Responding to the call, Premier Sheikh Hasina directed the departments concerned to send a collaborative support team led by the Bangladesh Armed Forces to Turkey.
