Nepal to export 40 MW power to Bangladesh via Indian grid
India and Bangladesh on Saturday agreed to continue to expand their power and energy collaboration and together develop intra-regional electricity trade, including of competitively-priced power generated from clean energy projects in India, Nepal and Bhutan, through the Indian electricity grid.
During the visit of Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to India, several significant agreements were signed, covering connectivity, commerce, and the power sector.
A notable announcement was made regarding the initiation of 40 MW power exports from Nepal to Bangladesh through the Indian grid.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held a bilateral meeting on Saturday, where they emphasized their shared vision for peace, prosperity, and regional development through enhanced connectivity, commerce, and cooperation.
As part of the sub-regional connectivity initiatives, India will provide transit facilities for the movement of Bangladeshi goods to Nepal and Bhutan via its railway network.
