Maldives climate minister arrested over 'black magic'
Police in the Maldives have detained a state environment minister, with local media reporting accusations of performing 'black magic' on the president.
Fathimath Shamnaz Ali Saleem, the state minister for environment, climate change, and energy, was arrested on Sunday in the capital, Male, along with two others, according to police statements on Thursday.
Authorities have remanded Saleem in custody for a week while investigations are conducted, without providing specific reasons for her arrest.
Local media outlet Sun reported that Saleem was allegedly arrested for practicing black magic on President Mohamed Muizzu. However, police have neither confirmed nor denied these claims.
