From Sheikh Hasina to Wickremesingh: Top global leaders set to attend PM modi's oath taking event

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take the oath for his third consecutive term today, following the victory of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Lok Sabha elections, announced on June 4.

For this significant event, India has extended invitations to several prominent South Asian leaders, including Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe reflecting the NDA government’s 'Neighbourhood First' policy.
According to top diplomatic sources, other leaders invited to the grand ceremony include Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, and Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan.
Wickremesinghe and Sheikh Hasina have confirmed their attendance at the event after phone conversations with PM Modi.
The Sri Lankan President’s office confirmed that Modi personally invited Wickremesinghe, who accepted the invitation and congratulated Modi on his electoral victory.
Similarly, Modi extended an invitation to Sheikh Hasina, who also accepted, as confirmed by diplomatic sources. Modi has also spoken separately with Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Modi is set to assume office for a historic third term, with the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) winning 293 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
Although the BJP did not secure a majority on its own, the party-led alliance achieved a total of 293 out of 543 seats, surpassing the majority mark of 272 in the Lower House.
