India introduces new export restrictions on essential commodities to Maldives

India on Tuesday has imposed fresh restrictions on the export of prohibited or restricted essential commodities to.

As per the directive issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade, the export of these commodities will only be permitted through four designated customs stations, namely Mundra Sea Port, Tuticorin Sea Port, Nhava Sheva Sea Port (JNPT), and ICD Tughlakabad.
Earlier, on April 5, India had lifted restrictions on the export of a specified quantity of nine products, including potatoes, onions, eggs, rice, wheat flour, and sugar to the Maldives for the current fiscal year.
It is noteworthy that the approved quantities of these essential commodities represent the highest levels since the establishment of bilateral ties between the two nations in 1981.
