India, China discuss 'Complete Disengagement' along LAC in fresh border talks

India and China engaged in discussions aimed at achieving "complete disengagement" along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) during the 29th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Thursday that the crucial meeting, held in Beijing on March 27, facilitated an extensive exchange of perspectives on resolving remaining issues along the LAC.
According to the MEA statement, both sides delved deeply into strategies for achieving complete disengagement and addressing outstanding matters in the Western Sector of the India-China border. The Indian delegation, led by Joint Secretary (East Asia) from the MEA, participated in the discussions, while the Chinese delegation was headed by the Director General of the Boundary and Oceanic Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Acknowledging the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility along the border areas in accordance with existing bilateral agreements and protocols, both delegations agreed to sustain regular communication through diplomatic and military channels. This commitment underscores the shared objective of upholding stability in the region.
The previous meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs took place on November 30 of the preceding year. The continuity of engagements reflects the ongoing efforts by both countries to address border-related issues through dialogue and cooperation.
