India attaches highest priority to its friendship with Bangladesh: President Murmu

Indian President Droupadi Murmu said that India is proud to have been a friend and partner in the Liberation War of Bangladesh, and continues to share the development journey with the neighbouring nation.

Speaking during a meeting with a 100-member Bangladesh youth delegation at Rastrapati Bhaban in India, President Murmu expressed pride in India's role as a friend and partner during the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
The President stressed the need to preserve and nurture the unique bond between the two nations, emphasizing that it serves as a source of inspiration. She described the relationship between India and Bangladesh as one of the heart and soul, rooted in deep cultural connections and a common love for art, music, cricket, and food.
Highlighting cultural ties President Murmu noted the significance of the national anthems of both countries, both composed by Tagore, and the shared appreciation for 'Baul' music and the works of Kazi Nazrul Islam. She underscored the celebration of unity in diversity within their shared heritage.
President Murmu acknowledged the large and vibrant youth populations in both India and Bangladesh, emphasizing their unlimited potential to shape the world. Encouraging the youth to harness this potential, she stated that as leaders of tomorrow, it is their responsibility to guide society towards a green, sustainable, and peaceful world.
The Bangladesh Youth Delegation program, initiated in 2012 as a joint effort by the ministries of external affairs and youth and sports, aims to foster goodwill and understanding between the two countries. The program promotes the exchange of ideas, values, and cultural understanding among the youth of India and Bangladesh.
