Indian navy deploys warships to counter attacks in Arabian sea

India's navy will deploy guided missile destroyer ships in the Arabian Sea after an Israel-affiliated merchant vessel was struck off the Indian coast over the weekend, in an effort to 'maintain a deterrent presence,' it said late on Monday.

This decision aims to uphold a strong deterrent against potential attacks, as stated in their announcement late on Monday.
Upon the vessel's arrival in Mumbai on Monday, the Indian Navy initiated an investigation into the nature of the attack. Initial assessments suggested the possibility of a drone attack, prompting the need for further forensic and technical analysis to determine crucial details such as the method of attack and the nature of the explosives used, as mentioned in the statement.
In response to claims made by a spokesperson for Iran's foreign ministry asserting the baselessness of US allegations linking Iran to the ship's attack near India, the Indian Navy has taken decisive action to reinforce security measures in the region.
To enhance its deterrent capabilities, the Indian Navy has strategically deployed Guided Missile Destroyers – INS Mormugao, INS Kochi, and INS Kolkata – to different sectors within the Arabian Sea. This deployment aims to ensure a robust naval presence amid recent incidents in the region, according to the official navy statement.
Collaborative efforts involving various agencies are underway to investigate the attack further. Following the completion of an initial analysis by the navy's explosive ordnance team, a joint inquiry is being conducted to comprehensively address the situation.
