Modi's plan to change India's name to Bharat absurd: Rahul

The prominent leader of India's opposition Rahul Gandhi has voiced his disapproval of Premier Narendra Modi's proposal to change the country's name from India to Bharat, deeming it 'absurd.'

During his five-day trip to Europe, Rahul Gandhi shared his thoughts with the media in Brussels, where he was questioned about the renaming of India to Bharat on G20 event invitations.
The Modi administration's decision to replace the name with the Sanskrit word 'Bharat' on dinner invitations for participants of the two-day G20 summit held in New Delhi sparked significant controversy. Modi chose to use "Bharat" on the G20 nameplate as the summit commenced on Saturday.
Gandhi, the leader of the opposition Congress party, believes that the uproar surrounding this name change is merely a diversionary tactic.
Furthermore, the Congress party leader has accused Modi of displaying favoritism towards prominent industrialists and has called for an investigation into alleged financial violations by billionaire industrialist Adani, who controls the Adani Group.
Gandhi's European visit aims to engage with European Union lawmakers, human rights advocates, and members of the Indian diaspora residing in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Norway.
