At least 7 killed in West Bengal firecracker factory explosion

A devastating explosion at a fireworks factory in the Duttapukur region of West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district claimed the lives of at least seven individuals and left several others injured, as reported by fire brigade officials on Sunday.

The intensity of the explosion was so immense that it inflicted damage on numerous structures in the vicinity, as confirmed by Indian Fire brigade authorities.
According to local eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred within a two-story house at approximately 10:40 a.m. in the Nilgunj area of Duttapukur. Disturbingly, it was revealed that the factory was operating clandestinely from within a residential property, raising concerns regarding its legality.
Rathin Ghosh, the state food minister and a legislator representing the area, conveyed that local law enforcement informed him about the tragic incident. He indicated that seven to eight people had tragically lost their lives in the explosion, with around six individuals sustaining injuries.
West Bengal has experienced several similar incidents in recent times. In May, a fireworks factory explosion in Egra, Midnapore district, resulted in the loss of nine lives and injuries to seven individuals, including two women.
