Three Days of Discussion on No-Confidence Motion Against India's Modi Govt

The no-confidence motion against the government led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to be deliberated in Parliament from 8th to 10th August.

The Congress party recently introduced the motion as part of the Opposition's demand for Prime Minister Modi to address Parliament regarding the ethnic clashes in Manipur that erupted in May between the Meitei and Kuki communities.
The violent clashes have resulted in a significant loss of life, with at least 130 people killed and tens of thousands displaced.
On 26th July, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla formally accepted the no-confidence motion, initiated by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi against the Modi government, after the required head count of over 50 MPs from the Opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A. was achieved, following the established rules.
Prominent leaders from the Opposition, including Congress parliamentary party chief Sonia Gandhi, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, DMK's TR Baalu, and NCP leader Supriya Sule, stood up for the headcount, leading to the acceptance of the motion of no-confidence by Speaker Birla.
The upcoming three days of discussions in Parliament will provide a platform for robust debates and scrutiny of the government's actions and policies, as brought forth by the no-confidence motion.
