India railway constable shoots 4 dead on train
An Indian railway security officer, identified as Chetan Kumar, has been reported to have opened fire on a moving train near the Palghar Railway Station in Maharashtra, resulting in the tragic death of four individuals, including a senior RPF (Railway Protection Force) official and three passengers.
The distressing event took place around 5:30 local time (3:00 GMT) on a train en route from Jaipur in the western state of Rajasthan to Mumbai city in Maharashtra.
According to official reports, Mr. Kumar initiated the violence by firing at Tikaram Meena, an assistant sub-inspector with the RPF, and then proceeded to shoot three other passengers, details of whom are yet to be ascertained.
The motive behind this shocking act is currently under investigation, as authorities attempt to understand what could have led the railway constable to commit such a heinous act.
RPF personnel are entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding railway passengers and protecting railway property throughout India. The incident has left the railway community and the nation in mourning for the loss of innocent lives.
The unfortunate shooting occurred shortly after the train passed the town of Palghar, located approximately 96 kilometers (60 miles) from the state capital, Mumbai. the authorities managed to apprehend him on the outskirts of Mumbai.
