4 killed in shooting at Punjab military station in India
Four people were killed in a 'firing incident' inside a military station in the northern Indian state of Punjab early Wednesday, according to officials.
An army spokesperson said in a statement that the incident was reported around 4.35 a.m. local time (2305GMT) inside a military station in Bathinda district.
'Station Quick Reaction Teams were activated. Area was cordoned off and sealed. Search operations, are in progress. Four Fatal casualties reported. Further details being ascertained,' the Army statement said.
The Army has said that an Insas rifle and 28 rounds of ammunition went missing two days back.
According to sources, the firing took place inside the officers' mess.
Bathinda's Senior Superintendent Of Police GS Khurana told media that a police team is waiting outside the military station and that the Army has not cleared their entry yet.
The police said all four gates of the military station have been shut.
