Uruguay seeks stronger economic collaboration with Bangladesh

Uruguayan foreign minister Mario Lubetkin met with Bangladesh’s chief adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, on Saturday to discuss expanding economic cooperation between the two nations.

During their meeting in Rome, following the funeral mass for Pope Francis, Lubetkin stressed the need to strengthen trade and investment relations, particularly enhancing collaboration between Dhaka and Mercosur countries for shared growth.
Both leaders exchanged views on global trade dynamics and discussed ways to bolster cooperation between Latin America and Asia, according to chief adviser’s deputy press secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.
The discussions also included initiatives to empower youth and foster the growth of social business enterprises. In addition, Professor Yunus and Minister Lubetkin reaffirmed their commitment to creating a "Three Zero" world: eliminating unemployment, reducing wealth inequality, and achieving net-zero carbon emissions.
Professor Yunus underlined the value of maintaining regular high-level engagement and extended an invitation for Minister Lubetkin to visit Bangladesh in the near future.
