Bangladesh seeks joint inspection along border for fencing issues
Bangladesh has put forward a proposal for joint inspections along the border to address concerns related to fencing, according to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Maj Gen Md Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui.
"The matter of border fencing was discussed. We have suggested joint inspections at locations where issues arise," he informed reporters following the conclusion of a three-day meeting with Indian Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary.
Daljit Singh, who was also present at the press briefing, stated that incidents of cross-border infiltration had "decreased significantly" since August 5.
Addressing a question, the BGB chief Maj Gen Md Ashrafuzzaman said reports of attacks on minorities in Bangladesh were "exaggerated." "We have received several requests from minorities for protection and have assured them of assistance," he added.
