World Bank Vice President for South Asia to visit Bangladesh

Martin Raiser, the Vice President for the South Asia Region at the World Bank, is set to arrive in Dhaka today for a two-day visit.
During his stay, Raiser will engage in discussions with key figures, including the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, the Finance Adviser, the Energy Adviser, the Governor of Bangladesh Bank, and other senior government officials.
The World Bank has been a crucial development partner for Bangladesh since the country gained independence. Over the years, it has provided approximately $44 billion in financial assistance, primarily through grants and concessional credits.
Currently, Bangladesh holds the largest active portfolio under the World Bank Group’s International Development Association (IDA).
