Taskforce formed to take action against illegal foreigners in Bangladesh
Bangladesh’s Ministry of Home Affairs has launched a specialized taskforce to address the presence of undocumented foreign nationals within the country.
The initiative aims to streamline efforts to identify, manage, and resolve cases involving individuals residing in Bangladesh without legal authorization.
According to an official notice released by the ministry on Monday, Deputy Secretary Md Kamruzzaman outlined the committee’s structure. The taskforce will be led by the Additional Secretary (Security and Immigration) of the Security Services Division as its convener, with the Joint Secretary (Immigration-2 Branch) serving as member secretary.
The newly formed body is mandated to oversee operations, devise strategies, and offer directives for managing illegal foreign nationals. It holds the authority to enforce necessary actions, propose policy measures, and adapt its approach based on evolving challenges.
Additionally, the committee may summon officials or experts to participate in meetings and temporarily include additional members to address specific needs.
