BGB returns Indian national after flag meeting
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) apprehended an Indian national who inadvertently crossed into Bangladeshi territory near the Dharmapur border area in Kurigram’s Roumari upazila. The individual was later repatriated to India through a coordinated flag meeting between border authorities.
Lt. Col. Hasanur Rahman, commander of BGB’s Jamalpur-based 35th Battalion, confirmed the incident, identifying the detainee as 35-year-old Nur Alam, a farmer from India. According to officials, Alam had accidentally entered Bangladesh due to a navigational error.
Mohiuddin, a BGB company commander stationed in Dantbhanga, stated that Alam was detained on Saturday morning for unauthorized entry. 'Following standard protocol, a flag meeting was convened with India’s Border Security Force (BSF) at the Sanjay Sadhu BSF outpost,' he explained. 'The individual was subsequently handed over to BSF representatives to ensure his safe return.'
