Six Bangladeshi-origin candidates running in US elections
Six Bangladeshi-origin candidates are currently running in different election races in the US. Of these, five are already elected representatives and are standing for re-election.
In Georgia, State Senator Sheikh Rahman is positioned as a strong contender for re-election in Senate District 5. Fellow Georgian, Senator Nabila Islam, is also seeking re-election, representing Senate District 7. In Connecticut, Masudur Rahman is running to keep his seat in Senate District 4, while in Virginia, Salim Saddam is seeking re-election for State Senate District 37. All four are members of the Democratic Party.
Meanwhile, Abul Bashar Khan, the only Republican among them, is aiming for re-election to the New Hampshire State House of Representatives from Rockingham District 20.
Another prominent candidate, Dr. Nuran Nabi, is running as a Democrat.
Additionally, a significant number of Bangladeshi-American citizens are active in other states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey, contributing at the county and local government levels.
