Bangladesh appoints Salahuddin Noman as new permanent representative to UN

The Bangladesh government has appointed Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury as the new ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations in New York.

The foreign ministry announced the appointment on Sunday, with Salahuddin set to succeed Md Abdul Muhith, who has served in the position since June 2022 and will retire in December.
Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury has been the head of Bangladesh’s mission in Nepal since November 11, 2020.
Having joined the foreign service in 1998, Salahuddin has held various roles in Bangladeshi embassies in New Delhi, Islamabad, and New York. His career also includes positions in administration, external publicity, multilateral economic affairs, protocol, and departments related to the United Nations, South East Asia, and the Foreign Service Academy.
