Bangladesh recalls 5 envoys, including from India
Bangladesh’s interim government has recalled five envoys, including the ambassador to neighbouring India, in a major diplomatic reshuffle, a foreign ministry official said on Thursday.
According to the official, who preferred to remain anonymous, the diplomats stationed in Brussels, Canberra, Lisbon, New Delhi, and the permanent mission at the United Nations in New York have been instructed to return to Dhaka immediately. The envoys were directed to promptly hand over their duties before departing, though no further details were provided.
This move comes shortly after the recall of Saida Muna Tasneem, the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, who was similarly asked to return to Bangladesh.
