Yunus-Oli discuss energy, transit cooperation between two countries

Bangladesh's Chief Adviser dr. Yunus and Nepal's Premier KP Sharma Oli have discussed enhancing business, energy and transport collaboration between Bangladesh and Nepal.

The talks took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, where both leaders acknowledged the increasing number of Nepalese students studying in Bangladesh.
Prime Minister Oli shared his thoughts on the meeting, saying, 'It was a pleasure to meet Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. We discussed Nepal-Bangladesh relations, with a focus on energy and transit cooperation, as well as opportunities for collaboration in tourism, cultural exchange, educational ties, and participation in regional and multilateral forums.'
According to Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, there is potential for an agreement next month that would facilitate the export of 40 megawatts of hydropower from Nepal to Bangladesh.
During his visit, Professor Yunus also met with several prominent global figures, including USAID Administrator Samantha Power, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, UN Human Rights Commissioner Volker Turk, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and Mark Suzman, the global CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
