Germany to provide €1bn support to Bangladesh for renewable energy
Germany will provide Bangladesh with €1 billion over the next ten years, including €15 million this year, focusing on renewable energy generation.
This information was shared by Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the Adviser for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, as well as Water Resources, after a meeting with the German Ambassador to Bangladesh, Achim Tröster.
The meeting took place on Tuesday at the Bangladesh Secretariat. During the discussion, Syeda Rizwana Hasan emphasized that the collaboration will include involvement from ethnic minorities, women, and youth, ensuring a diverse, multi-stakeholder approach.
Expressing her gratitude, Hasan acknowledged Germany's consistent support in addressing environmental and climate-related challenges. Ambassador Tröster reaffirmed Germany’s dedication to assisting Bangladesh in its climate change efforts, praising the government’s initiatives to safeguard the environment. He also emphasized Germany’s expertise in renewable energy and offered technical support to help Bangladesh advance its green energy transition.
