Bangladesh doesn't see any possibility of war with India

Bangladesh does not foresee any possibility of war with India under any circumstances, Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain has said, expressing surprise at a comment made by Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

During a discussion at the foreign ministry on Sunday, Hossain addressed concerns raised by Singh's call for the Indian armed forces to remain prepared, citing the situation in Europe and Bangladesh. Hossain expressed surprise rather than concern, saying, 'I am more surprised than worried.'
He questioned the rationale behind Singh's statement, suggesting it might have been intended for domestic purposes in India. 'I don’t see any reason for it. I do not think under any circumstances that there is a possibility of war with India. The way he spoke seems unclear to me. Given the war in Ukraine, I don’t see any reason for India to prepare for war. What does India’s situation have to do with the issues surrounding Hamas? How can Bangladesh be compared to Ukraine or Hamas? This is beyond my understanding,' Hossain commented, adding that Bangladesh would look into the matter.
When asked if Singh's statement posed a threat to Bangladesh, Hossain reiterated his belief that the comment was likely related to internal matters within India, stating, 'I still believe that he said this due to internal conflicts within his own country. Therefore, I do not wish to make any assumptions.'
Regarding whether Bangladesh has contacted India about the issue, Hossain responded, 'I don’t want to say anything on this matter at the moment. Let’s leave it at that for now. We don’t wish to react immediately but will certainly observe what’s happening and why it’s happening.'
