South Korea to provide $10m in humanitarian aid for Rohingyas
South Korea has revealed its plan to provide10 million Us dollar in 2024 in humanitarian aid for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
The South Korean embassy in Dhaka stated on Tuesday that this funding represents more than a threefold increase compared to the previous year's contribution.
This year’s aid will be distributed through international organizations operating in Bangladesh, including the UN refugee agency (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Since 2017, South Korea has consistently provided $3 to $5 million annually to support Rohingya refugees and the communities hosting them in Bangladesh, working closely with the Bangladesh government and international agencies.
Additionally, South Korea has made its first donation of 15,000 tons of rice, sufficient to feed 1 million Rohingyas for one and a half months, further enhancing the total humanitarian assistance provided this year.
