'China to continue cooperation for Bangladesh's development'

Liu Jianchao, the visiting Minister of International Relations of the Communist Party of China (CPC)'s central committee, expressed China's strong commitment to continue supporting Bangladesh's development efforts.

'China places significant importance on strengthening its development ties with Bangladesh and will remain a steadfast partner in Bangladesh's development,' Liu stated during a courtesy call on Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban today.
Liu Jianchao commended Bangladesh's progress in various sectors, particularly in infrastructure, information technology, communication, energy, and tourism.
Following the meeting, President's Press Secretary Md. Joynal Abedin briefed the media about the discussions.
President Shahabuddin welcomed the Chinese minister to Bangabhaban, emphasizing China's role as a crucial development partner for Bangladesh. He highlighted China's assistance in major projects such as the Padma Bridge Rail Link, Karnaphuli Tunnel, and Elevated Expressway, which have significantly boosted Bangladesh's economic growth.
Reflecting on the long-standing relationship between the two nations, President Shahabuddin expressed hope that China's development partnership with Bangladesh would continue to strengthen. He also sought China's support for Bangladesh's bid to become a partner member of the BRICS alliance, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.
The President noted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's upcoming visit to China next month, expressing optimism that the visit would further elevate the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Addressing the Rohingya issue, President Shahabuddin requested China's comprehensive cooperation in resolving the ongoing problem.
