Oman to open visas for Bangladeshis in 12 categories
Oman will now issue visas to Bangladeshi nationals in 12 specific categories, according to a report by the Times of Oman.
These categories encompass family visas, visit visas for Bangladeshis residing in Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and professional visas for doctors, engineers, nurses, teachers, accountants, and investors. Additionally, all types of official visas will be granted.
Since Oman implemented a ban on visa issuance for Bangladeshi nationals on October 31, 2023, the number of Bangladeshi arrivals in the country has dropped by over 50 percent. The Royal Oman Police (ROP) had stopped issuing visas to Bangladeshi citizens in all categories through a circular issued on that date.
Following the visa ban, the Bangladesh embassy in Muscat issued a statement, saying that it would be 'temporary in nature'.
