King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Consort Jetsun Pema of Bhutan, the first country to recognise the independent nation of Bangladesh at its birth, have arrived in Dhaka for a four-day visit.

At 10:15 am on Monday, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and First Lady Rebecca Sultana greeted the esteemed royal couple with heartfelt warmth upon their arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
A meticulously uniformed contingent of the Bangladesh Armed Forces accorded the king with a state salute and guard of honor, as he inspected the troops while the national anthems of both nations resonated in the air.
Post the airport ceremony, King Wangchuck embarked on a journey to the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 to pay homage to the revered Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Scheduled for the evening on Monday is a courtesy call with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, during which several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will be signed in the esteemed presence of the prime minister.
