Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden Official Visit to Dhaka

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden has commenced a four-day official visit to Dhaka in her capacity as the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Upon her arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday, the princess was warmly greeted by Bangladesh's Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Accompanying the Crown Princess are Joah Forsell, the Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Sweden, and Ms. Ulrika Modeer, the UN Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy for UNDP.
During her stay, the Crown Princess is expected to hold meetings with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and participate in an iftar gathering hosted by her.
Her itinerary includes visits to various development projects implemented jointly by the Bangladeshi government and UNDP in Cox’s Bazar, Dhaka, Khulna, Chattogram, and Noakhali. Additionally, she will visit the Rohingya settlement in Bhasan Char to gain insight into the situation there.
The Swedish Embassy in Dhaka noted that this marks the Crown Princess's second visit to Bangladesh, following her initial visit nearly two decades ago in 2005.
Crown Princess Victoria has actively served as a UNDP Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Goodwill Ambassador since October 17, 2023.
