Rohingya seek refuge in Bangladesh amid ongoing Myanmar conflict

Rohingya people from Myanmar are waiting along the border to enter Bangladesh as conflict rages in their country.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members are maintaining heightened vigilance to prevent any illegal entry attempts by Rohingya refugees into Bangladesh.

According to local public representatives, approximately 200 Rohingyas, aboard several boats, are currently positioned on the opposite side of the Naf river, hoping to cross into Bangladesh.
On February 6, law enforcement authorities apprehended 23 armed Rohingyas along the border in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhiya, specifically at Rahmater Beel area.
Presently, 1.25 million Rohingyas are residing in 33 shelter camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf of Cox's Bazar. Among them, 800,000 were displaced after the persecution by the Myanmar army in Rakhine since August 25, 2017. Despite six years passing since the influx, the return of a single Rohingya to Myanmar remains uncertain.
Clashes between Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP) and the insurgent group Arakan Army have been ongoing on the opposite side of the Naikhongchhari border since February 2. The Arakan Army reportedly seized control of Tumbru right camps and Dhekibonia border outposts from the BGP. Intermittent firing and shelling have persisted since Sunday night.
During the Myanmar clashes, two individuals lost their lives in Bangladesh territory as a mortar shell struck a house kitchen in Jalpaitali village under Ghumdhum union in Naikhongchhari. Among the victims, one was a Bangladeshi woman, and the other was a Rohingya man.
Furthermore, approximately 330 Myanmar citizens, including BGP members and customs officers, fled their country and sought refuge in Bangladesh. They are currently under the custody of the Border Guard Bangladesh.
