Bangladesh border guard killed in firing by India's BSF
A sepoy of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has died after being shot by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) personnel fired their guns at Benapole border on Jashore.
Lt Colonel Ahmed Hasan Jamil, the commander of 49 BGB Battalion in Jashore, announced the news of Raisuddin’s death in a statement at midnight on Tuesday.
The unfortunate incident occurred when a BGB patrol confronted a group of cattle smugglers who had crossed the border near the Dhanyokhola border outpost at approximately 5:30 am on Monday. In response to the challenge, the smugglers fled towards the Indian side. Despite the dense fog, BGB personnel pursued them; however, Raisuddin became separated from the team during the chase.
Initial efforts to locate Raisuddin proved unsuccessful, but subsequent information revealed that he had sustained injuries from BSF gunfire and was receiving treatment at a hospital on the Indian side. A flag meeting was promptly arranged, during which the BGB learned of Raisuddin's tragic demise at the hospital.
In light of this distressing incident, the BGB has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Sepoy Raisuddin. Additionally, a letter of protest against the killing has been sent by the BGB, emphasizing the need for a proper inquiry into the events that transpired at the Benapole border.
