World to witness a great election in Bangladesh on 7 January
Bangladesh's political party Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said that the Election Commission can act independently and authoritatively, which is why the electoral code of conduct is being strictly maintained.
During a speech at the party president's office in Dhaka's Dhanmondi, Quader mentioned the Election Commission's active response to any breaches of the electoral code, affirming that the government has not interfered or obstructed its proceedings. He also emphasized that Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina remains resolute in upholding this principle.
Quader expressed confidence that the world will witness a significant election in Bangladesh on January 7, with substantial public participation and an outcome reflective of public sentiment.
Addressing the opposition parties, BNP and Jamaat, Quader remarked that they remain mired in a cycle of failure and errors, unable to extricate themselves. He highlighted that the public has disregarded their negative agendas, violence, and blockades. He also expressed skepticism regarding BNP's commitment to non-violence, citing their history of inconsistency between words and actions, adding, 'We have received information suggesting covert conspiracies by them.'
Obaidul Quader emphasized the Election Commission's impartiality, expressed optimism about the upcoming election, and raised concerns about the opposition's conduct, cautioning against potential clandestine activities.
