PM Hasina warns against undermining Bangladesh's upcoming elections

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh delivered a resolute warning directed at the opposition, cautioning against any attempts to destabilize the forthcoming 12th national elections.

Speaking at the parliamentary nomination board meeting of the ruling Awami League in Dhaka, Hasina expressed apprehension regarding alleged efforts by the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami to manipulate the electoral procedures.
She underscored the Awami League's reliance on the nation's populace and sternly cautioned that any endeavors to tamper with the election process would result in severe consequences.
'In 2014, they [BNP and Jamaat] abstained from participating in the elections due to a lack of confidence. Despite controversies surrounding the 2018 election, no specific evidence of irregularities has been presented thus far,' mentioned Hasina.
Chairing the meeting held at the Dhaka district Awami League office in Tejgaon, Hasina outlined the day's agenda, primarily focusing on finalizing nominations for parliamentary seats across several divisions.
Further sessions are scheduled in the upcoming days to conclude nominations for all 300 parliamentary seats.
