Bangladesh urges OHCHR to amend october 31 briefing on incidents

The government of Bangladesh rejects any insinuation suggesting that the masked individuals riding on motorcycles are 'thought to have been' the ruling party supporters, according to a statement from the foreign ministry.

The government expects the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to rectify its press briefing note from Tuesday, October 31, based on accurate and verified information. Failure to provide objective statements may result in a loss of support, trust, and credibility from the public.
The statement from the Bangladesh foreign ministry is in response to a press briefing note released by the OHCHR on Tuesday regarding events in Bangladesh.
Video footage widely circulated in the media shows attacks on journalists and vandalism at the residence of the Chief Justice during a BNP rally.
Media reports have identified an individual wearing protective gear, posing as a law enforcement officer or a member of the press, and setting vehicles on fire as Robiul Islam Noyon, the member secretary of the Dhaka City South branch of Jubo Dal, the youth wing of the BNP.
