ADB allocates $338m funding to support vaccine development in Bangladesh
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has extended a generous loan package of 338 million US dollar to Bangladesh to bolster the nation's vaccine development efforts.
In a recent meeting at the Planning Minister MA Mannan's office in Dhaka, ADB Country Director Edimon Ginting unveiled this significant financial support. As reported by the Ministry of Planning, this funding initiative marks a crucial step in enhancing Bangladesh's capacity to develop and distribute vaccines.
Notably, this substantial loan is structured with the welfare of the Bangladeshi people in mind. Half of the loan amount is designed as a soft loan, featuring favorable terms for repayment. This provision aims to ease the financial burden on the country during the vaccine development process. The other half of the loan will incur an interest rate slightly below the prevailing market rates. This thoughtful approach seeks to ensure the sustainability of the vaccine development efforts without placing excessive financial stress on the nation.
