US, Bangladesh Unite in their Vision for a Free and Connected Indo-Pacific

The US Department of State has affirmed that both the United States and Bangladesh share a common vision aimed at ensuring the Indo-Pacific region remains free, open, and interconnected.

This commitment was reiterated by US Department of State Spokesperson Mathew Miller during a recent briefing held on Tuesday.
Miller emphasized, "The United States and Bangladesh are aligned in their determination to uphold the principles of a free, open, and interconnected Indo-Pacific region. Our Indo-Pacific strategy is centered around fostering prosperity, security, and resilience in this crucial part of the world."
The statement by Miller came in response to remarks made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during his visit to Bangladesh. Lavrov had expressed concerns about potential US interference in the region and asserted that Moscow would take steps to prevent any attempts at establishing undue influence.
In response to Lavrov's comments, Miller offered a pointed critique, saying, "When considering Russia's actions, including the invasion of two neighboring countries and an ongoing aggressive war marked by the bombing of schools, hospitals, and residential buildings, it is essential to exercise self-awareness. Such a country should refrain from commenting on other nations imposing dictates. Sergey Lavrov's statement lacks the necessary self-awareness."
In summary, the United States and Bangladesh stand united in their vision for an Indo-Pacific region characterized by freedom, openness, and connectivity. Their commitment is anchored in a broader strategy aimed at promoting prosperity, security, and resilience, even in the face of external criticisms and challenges.
