President Biden wants to build good relations with Bangladesh: Momen

Bangladesh's Foreign Minister, AK Abdul Momen, revealed that the recent interaction between US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the G20 Summit was marked by warmth and cordiality, showcasing the robust bilateral relationship between the two nations.

In response to a query, Momen underscored the deep and enduring bond between Bangladesh and the United States, affirming the nation's commitment to fortify this relationship in the coming years.
FM Momen also noted that the United States is actively pursuing measures to enhance its partnership with Bangladesh, including the dispatch of diplomatic delegations for substantive discussions. He clarified that any perceived pressure on Bangladesh was primarily generated by the media, not by the US government.
The foreign minister disclosed that President Biden engaged in a 15-minute conversation with Sheikh Hasina and her daughter, Saima Wazed, at the Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition Centre in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.
"During the conversation between our Prime Minister and President Biden, both leaders appeared delighted and engaged in discussions characterized by a warm and friendly atmosphere," Momen remarked. He estimated the duration of their conversation to be approximately 15 minutes.
Furthermore, Momen recounted that while Prime Minister Hasina and her daughter conversed with Joe Biden, Bangladesh's Ambassador-at-Large, Mohammad Ziauddin, took out his mobile phone to capture the moment.
To the surprise of many, President Biden also took out his own cellphone and joined in, capturing a memorable selfie to commemorate the occasion.
