G20 Summit: Hasina-Modi talks in New Delhi on Sept 8
The eagerly anticipated one-on-one meeting between Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on September 8, just ahead of the two-day G20 Summit.
Diplomatic sources from both countries have confirmed that the meeting will be held at the official residence of the Indian Prime Minister. It is slated to occur shortly after Prime Minister Hasina's arrival in New Delhi, where she has been invited as a special guest by host India.
During this high-level meeting, Bangladesh is expected to address crucial issues such as the Teesta and Ganges water-sharing agreements, alongside other topics of mutual interest, as revealed by Bangladesh's Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen on Sunday.
Premier Hasina is anticipated to touch down in New Delhi at approximately 1:30 pm local time, with her meeting with Prime Minister Modi scheduled for around 4:00 pm local time.
Following the conclusion of the G20 Summit, which brings together the leaders of the world's most influential economies, Hasina is set to return to Dhaka on the morning of September 10.
It's worth noting that Prime Ministers Hasina and Modi recently engaged in a brief informal conversation while in Johannesburg, South Africa, attending the BRICS summit.
While in Delhi, Sheikh Hasina will also participate in other bilateral meetings, including one with the Saudi crown prince, further enhancing diplomatic ties and cooperation.
