Bangladesh key trade partner of India: Indian Envoy
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma said that India and Bangladesh want to work together for economic development.
Indian Envoy Verma underscored Bangladesh's pivotal role as one of India's significant trading partners within the Asian region, highlighting substantial trade potential, especially between the Chattogram port and India's North Eastern region. Recognizing the full extent of this potential, he stressed the importance of enhancing trade infrastructure between the two nations.
In order to bolster trade ties, Verma emphasized the critical need to prioritize improvements in connectivity and the modernization of both sea and land ports. India is actively considering the establishment of seven additional land ports to facilitate cross-border trade, he added.
These insights were shared during a seminar jointly organized by the Bangladesh-India History and Heritage Council and Unnayan Shamannay. The event was conducted at the Bangabandhu Conference Hall located within the Chattogram World Trade Centre.
