World should take steps to stop Ukraine war: Hasina

Bangladesh's Premier Sheikh Hasina said intensified global steps were needed to stop the war in Ukraine as it continued to cause misery for common people across the world.

Speaking to the CNN in an exclusive interview, Hasina said, 'I feel that the world should come forward to stop the war as the common people are suffering.'
On Bangladesh's stance on the war, Sheikh Hasina said, 'We believe in a peaceful solution. If there is any conflict, it can be solved through dialogue. We never support any kind of invasion or any conflict.'
Numerous questions regarding the Ukraine crisis, Bangladesh's relations with China, including its loan issues, and the Rohingya crisis largely featured on the first episode of the interview.
Prime minister said Bangladesh's foreign policy is very clear. 'Friendship to all, malice to none...we are following that, so, when we see any human rights violation or invasion, we definitely oppose it'.
Replying to a question about USA's concerns over deepening Bangladesh-China ties, Sheikh Hasina said that Bangladesh is close to every country which supports its development efforts.
'We are close to everybody, let it be China, the USA or India. We are with those who support our development,' Hasina said.
She said the Rohingyas (12 lakh) have become a big burden for Bangladesh as it has to feed them alongside ensuring their basic rights despite the country being overpopulated.
