Bangladesh’s Economy Needs Foreign Investment To Grow

From the viewpoint of British geopolitician and parliamentarian Sir Halford Mackinder, the current territories of Bangladesh and India belong to the marginal Monsoon Coastland, while United States (US) geopolitician and political scientist Nicholas Spykman viewed the territories as part of the vital Rimland.

This is now the major question concerning Bangladesh-India relations. Issues like religion, nationalism, riots, conflicts, violence, and discriminatory behavior toward neighboring states have repeatedly arisen in the political landscape of the Indian subcontinent.

The Myanmar crisis, which developed substantially after the military coup of February 2021, appears as we enter the fourth year of the crisis. Violence, humanitarian crisis, and an ever-declining economy define the crisis today. This article seeks to elucidate the probable scenario that would define the crisis in Myanmar, considering the political state of the country, humanitarian issues, and economic conditions among other aspects in the year 2025.

The fall of Bashar al-Assad`s regime in Syria on 8 December, 2024 represents a profound shift in the political, social, and geopolitical landscape of the Middle East. The collapse of a family`s regime that had ruled for over five decades is not only a domestic turning point for Syria but also carries wide-ranging impacts for the region and the world, including countries like Bangladesh.

India’s giving shelter to the deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina after the August 5 changes has deepened the disappointment of Bangladeshis towards India.

Bangladesh is a compelling example of interfaith harmony in a world increasingly polarized by religious strife. The country, with its rich tapestry of diverse religious communities, has historically embraced coexistence among Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians. This commitment to unity is not merely a cultural artifact; it is woven into the very fabric of the nation’s identity and governance.

A series of media narratives have appeared in recent times through Indian news agencies regarding the Chattogram Division as well as the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) region of Bangladesh.

In broad daylight of 2nd December, Bangladesh Assistant High commission was attacked in Agartala, by a group of angry protestors under the banner of the Hindu Sangharsh Samiti, an affiliate of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP)- a Hindutva based organization. Bangladesh has strongly condemned the attack on its mission in the northeastern Indian state of Tripura, bordering Bangladesh’s Sylhet and Chattogram divisions.

November 13, 2024 marks a year of Arakan Army`s (AA) newest onslaught against the Myanmar military junta in Rakhine State. Named `Operation 1113`, this is the most successful military operation of the AA.

The friendship between Bangladesh and China has a rich history that spans over a millennium. Both nations have long been upholding each other’s respective core interests and concerns. While China supports Bangladesh in safeguarding national sovereignty, and territorial integrity and opposing external interference, Bangladesh firmly pursues the one-China principle and appreciates China’s important role in promoting regional peace and stability.
