Bangladesh-Pakistan to form joint business council

The apex trade bodies of Bangladesh and Pakistan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday to form a joint business council to strengthen trade between the two countries.

The agreement was signed by Hafizur Rahman, administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), and Atif Ikram Sheikh, president of the Pakistan Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI). The signing took place at an event titled "Bangladesh-Pakistan Business Forum" held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka.
Syed Ahmed Maroof, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, attended the ceremony.
In a statement, the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka highlighted that the joint business council would act as a platform to facilitate the exchange of trade and investment information, organize business delegations, and encourage participation in trade exhibitions in both countries. The council will also focus on fostering economic cooperation and exploring opportunities for mutual growth.
The Pakistani high commissioner hailed the initiative as a significant move toward fostering collaboration, supporting businesses in both nations, and strengthening bilateral trade ties.
