UN pledges full support for Bangladesh's smooth LDC graduation

UN Under Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States Rabab Fatima has met Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and assured him of her office's full support for Bangladesh's smooth transition toward LDC graduation.

Fatima met with Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In the meeting, Fatima praised Bangladesh's long-standing commitment to supporting LDC issues and its cooperation with the UN Office of the High Representative for LDCs, LLDCs, and SIDS (UNOHRLLS). "It was an honor to meet the chief adviser, and I commended Bangladesh for its strong dedication to LDC matters," she said.
The discussion also covered the implementation of the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA), which focuses on addressing the challenges faced by LDCs.
Appointed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres in August 2022, Rabab Fatima is tasked with supporting LDCs, LLDCs, and Small Island Developing States in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and implementing their respective global action plans. These 92 nations are recognized as some of the most vulnerable in the world.
