Visa procedures between India-Bangladesh should be made easier
The former Foreign Secretary of India Harsh Vardhan Shringla has underscored the need to easing visa procedures between India and Bangladesh for the convenience of travelers.
Speaking at an event in Kolkata's Newtown Shringla, who also served as the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, expressed the importance of making visas easily accessible without unnecessary delays.
He shared that during his tenure as the foreign secretary, there was a substantial increase in the number of visas issued, rising from 500,000 to 1.5 million annually, and now reaching a commendable figure of 2 million.
Joining the discussion at the event, Bangladesh's Minister of Textiles and Jute, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, highlighted the exemplary nature of the India-Bangladesh relationship, considering it a role model for neighboring nations worldwide. Nanak emphasized the strength of the ongoing ties between the two countries, attributing it to the collaborative efforts of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Nanak expressed optimism that, under the leadership of Modi and Hasina, the robust relationship between India and Bangladesh would endure. He conveyed his hope for further advancements and mutual cooperation between the two nations, fostering a strong and enduring bond.
