Turkish trade minister and large business delegation to visit Bangladesh

Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, along with a substantial delegation of business representatives, is set to visit Bangladesh this week to explore opportunities for enhancing bilateral trade and investment ties.

The delegation, led by Bolat, is expected to arrive in Dhaka on January 9. During the visit, Bolat will hold meetings with Bangladesh's interim leader Muhammad Yunus and Sheikh Bashir Uddin, an adviser to the Commerce Ministry.
The business delegation will include members from prominent organizations such as the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK), the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), the Turkish Contractors’ Association (TMB), the Türkiye Exporters’ Assembly (TİM), and the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD).
A key highlight of the visit will be a roundtable meeting featuring prominent figures from Turkish and Bangladeshi business sectors. The event aims to foster deeper trade and investment collaboration between the two nations, according to reports from the state-run Anadolu Agency.
Minister Bolat is also scheduled to meet Turkish entrepreneurs operating in Bangladesh to discuss current challenges and explore potential areas of cooperation.
Discussions during the visit will cover diverse sectors, including infrastructure, energy, tourism—particularly health tourism—mining, logistics, e-commerce, defense, and clean energy. The objective is to establish a more balanced and diversified bilateral trade framework, as noted by Anadolu.
In 2024, trade between Türkiye and Bangladesh surpassed 1.3 billion US dollar, reflecting the growing economic relationship between the two countries.
